PROUD OF THEIR JEWISH HERITAGE – WHY?

I often hear people saying they’re proud of their Jewish heritage – why? Why would anyone be proud of a mass murdering deity who loved nothing more than killing innocent people? And who legalised slavery? Or a demonic father – Abraham – who was willing to murder his son and who forced his wife into prostitution? Or a maniac – Moses – who murdered 3,000 of his loyal followers simply because they cast a cow out of metal? The same maniac who ordered his butchers to slaughter men, women, boys, girls and infants, all except for the young teenage virgins who they could keep alive as fuckmeat? Or the deluded tyrant – Joshua – who stopped the sun from orbiting the Earth to allow him more time to slaughter the inhabitants of a nearby city? Or the demented king – David – who chopped his live captives into little pieces or forced them to walk though a white hot kiln til they burst into flames?

Someone please explain to me what is so proud worthy of Judaism.

Every year that passes brings us closer to the disaster that will be triggered by two opposing religious beliefs. Jews believe that “god” gave that part of Palestine known as Israel to them while Palestinians are convinced the land is theirs. Various US presidents have tried to bring peace to the area but that’s impossible while Jews continue to drive Palestinians from their homes.

‘Christians for Israel’ is a powerful lobby group, no US president thus far has dared to stand up to it. As a result the USA continues to fund the Israeli war effort to the tune of five billion dollars per year. Peace talks are doomed when the referee is helping one side oppress and evict the other.

The problem, as with so many other problems, is due to erroneous brainfill. So long as both sides believe that their particular Holy Book is right while every other Holy Book is wrong then massive conflict is inevitable and nuclear war probable. The only glimmer of hope, and it’s a dim glimmer, is that some young Israelis are beginning to realise that there are two sides to this argument. If it becomes possible for them to prevail over their fundamentalist counterparts then maybe, just maybe, constructive dialogue might be possible.

If you still believe that everything is tickety-boo and that all you have to do is keep quiet, not make a fuss, just be nice, tolerant, compliant little atheists, then there is no hope for the world.

The survival of life on planet Earth depends on clear thinking. With it we have a fair chance of surviving into the 22nd century and beyond. Without it I fear we are doomed. Presently the whole world is engaged in a battle of one-true-faiths: religious faiths, nationalistic faiths and a plethora of madcap conspiracy faiths.

Armed with faiths and nuclear, chemical and biological weapons mankind will soon put an end to everything. Gods and weapons of mass destruction don’t mix. It’s like a barrel of gunpowder next to a roaring bonfire. It’s just a matter of time before things go bang.

I’ve spent a great deal of time working on my web sites and I guess the reason for it all is to encourage young people to think for themselves. It’s almost impossible to shake old people from their rock solid ‘one true faiths’ but young people are still searching for The Truth. At least, some of them are.

There was a time I believed that we were entering a new age of reason and rationalism but I no longer believe that. I now realise that mankind has a desperate need for crap. As he jettisons one piece of crap he grasps another. Mankind will cling to crap like a drowning man to a twig, anything rather than stare truth in the face.

And the surprising thing is, it has little to do with intelligence. Some of the most intelligent people I know believe the most extraordinary and bizarre things. The 9/11 conspiracy theory is the most popular, the details of which keep changing as the “proofs” are challenged and found wanting. The latest bit of nonsense at the time of writing is that the dust clouds from the collapse of the two main WTC buildings were caused not by pulverised debris but by “modern high explosives such as Semtex” Apparently this is an “irrefutable” truth.

I’ve asked my friends to send me evidence of this “irrefutable” truth but it’s been delayed in the post. These same friends insist that it was Prime Minister John Howard, not Martin Bryant, who murdered thirty-five people at Port Arthur. Apparently Howard sent SIS sharpshooters down to Hobart to murder people so’s he could get his gun buy-back initiative passed into law. I bet they’ve got irrefutable proof for that too.

I know what they do. It’s the same process for almost everyone. You’ve seen computer generated images of viruses and how they key into healthy blood cells? That’s what humans do with barmy notions. The notions with the right shape slot seamlessly into the preconceived conviction like pieces from a jigsaw puzzle. The notions with the wrong shape are discarded because they don’t fit. It doesn’t matter whether the new thought contains truth or trash, just so long as it slots neatly into the preconceived conviction. So if you hate Jews and you read something blaming Jews for Hurricane Katrina, that becomes the truth for you. Whereas someone who likes Jews but hates “niggers” will reject your truth for one that fits better. We’re all looking for nice snug fits.

I know another guy – an intelligent and well educated man with a couple of degrees under his belt – he believes the world is being governed by “sentient beings” who arrived here millions of years ago and who currently reside in a huge cavern beneath the Great Pyramid of Giza. As ‘proof’ of his ADT (Absolute Divine Truth) he showed me a photo of Mars and sure enough, in certain lights with the shadows in just the right places, an image of a face appears. What more by way of proof could you ask for?

Then there’s the dedicated atheist who lives nearby – such a proud atheist that he strides around town sporting a T shirt proclaiming “Atheism Rocks!” – but every so often he, along with hundreds of other “enlightened” types climb a Swiss mountain to await the return of Rael. Rael, a gifted French prophet, is presently circumnavigating the universe in a flying saucer piloted by aliens but he’ll be returning soon to impart his “intergalactic knowledge”.

Then there are the thetan-infested dropkicks who pay mega-bucks to their pose church to rid themselves of nasty little space gremlins that latched onto their bodies at birth. The prehistoric gremlins, or body-thetans, are holding them back, preventing them from becoming supermen with Xray vision and the ability to adjust their height at will. They’re working on their Gorilla Goals and their Aircraft Door Goals, it’s hard work but it’s all worthwhile.

But saddest one of all was a woman I knew – once again an atheist and a radical one at that – who received night visits from Space Visitors. She told me not to worry if I heard her screaming in the early hours, it was just her Space Visitors annoying her, two of whom she had been forced to castrate. She died recently, no suspicious circumstances. But who knows? She always believed that the Space Visitors were plotting to kill her.

Then we have people known as Muslims who believe that if they murder civilians – the more the merrier – they’ll be rewarded by their god with seventy-two virgins. While cruising around Mesopotamia on his flying horse, “God’s messenger” guaranteed that particular benefit. Were Muslims to check the origins of that ADT they would discover that their blessed prophet promised them, not virgins but a bunch of grapes. But hey, let’s not go there, Why spoil their fun.

Even so, Muslims are bright enough to realise that corpses don’t spring back to life, which is more than can be said for Christians. More than two billion Christians believe that the corpse of a dead Jew sprang back to life after it had been dead three days with its brain turning to maggoty mush. And now, anyone who believes in this miracle cadaver – providing they believe in the correct manner – will be saved from an eternity spent writhing in the flames of hell. Anyone who doesn’t believe – who isn’t a “born-again” Seventh Day, Jehovah’s razzmatazz Mormon – will be cast into the lake of eternal fire.

But maddest of all, madder than all those madnesses combined, is the Christian belief in Armageddon theology and the “rapture”. According to Pew Research and Time Magazine, forty-two percent the population of the most powerful and bomb-happy nation on Earth believes that “god” wants the world destroyed in a nuclear holocaust. Seconds before  it happens, they – the born-again believers – will be “raptured” up to heaven to meet Jesus. With a sword protruding from his mouth, Jesus will greet them mid-sky as he plummets down to Earth to deal harshly with us heretics and evildoers.

I challenged anyone reading this to come up with something, anything, madder. Or for that matter, more dangerous.

Back in the 1960s the Ban the Bomb movement was big but somehow I wasn’t attracted. Something told me they were banging their heads against a brick wall. In the 1970s I attended a lecture by Dr Helen Caldicott whose message was much the same – either we rid the world of nuclear weapons or it’s all over for planet Earth. Once again I felt there was something missing and now I know what it is. It’s called REALITY.

You cannot extinction-proof the planet while people believe crazy things. Even if it were possible to rid the world of 90% it’s nuclear weapons there would still be enough left to kill most of us several times over. And chemical weapons are cheap as chips and easy to manufacture and hide. Think Sarin gas and Tokyo.

THE ONLY WAY TO DEFEND THE WORLD IS TO ATTACK THE MIND!

God instructed Jews to drive “aliens” from the promised land and to slaughter those who resist. The same deity (wearing a different hat) instructs Palestinians to stay put and kill Jews. Iran has threatened to destroy Israel. Israel has promised to forcibly veto that idea. The USA continues to fund the Israeli war effort to the tune of four billion dollars a year. Al Queda has promised to punish the USA and its allies. Soon it will acquire fissionable material and put it to good use. Kiss goodbye to New York and London. Yet ‘Christians for Israel’ need their nuclear war to begin in Israel because it is prophesied in the book of Revelation.

Fortunately there is a delay. Jews must breed a perfect red Heifer before the fireworks begin. And the Dome on the Rock must be destroyed. Trust me, they’re working on it. Eager little Beavers.

Any parents who care for their children should take note. Hoping for the best won’t save them, or you for that matter. You live in a mad world populated by mad people with mad beliefs and mad weapons. The only thing you personally can affect are the BELIEFS! Your own beliefs are probably just as mad as everyone else’s even though you ‘know’ them to be true. If you want to know the Absolute Divine Truth it’s this – no one knows. It’s all a mystery. Anyone who believes they know, is part of the madness and is propelling the madness on towards it’s ultimate perilous conclusion – total annihilation.

My fight is drawing to a close, I’ve been repeating myself gramophone fashion since 1982 and I’ve made not one scrap of difference. Each time I come close to reaching people, right-thinking atheists have my Yahoo group or web site closed down. I’m too radical and I offend them. Apparently I’m not a proper atheist and so I now refer to myself as a FreeActionary. For my sanity’s sake I’ve become a virtual hermit. I avoid people because I can find no one with the clarity of mind to realise that unless we start facing up to reality as it really is, the party’s over.

What is a Nuclear Weapon?

A nuclear weapon is any device that harnesses the immense power of the atom to create a bomb. For all the hype, they are essentially nothing more than extremely powerful bombs, bombs large enough to obliterate vast cities.

A typical nuclear warhead might have a power of one megaton. This means the power of 1,000,000 tons of TNT, the most powerful non-nuclear explosive. Imagine the size of this much TNT (a cube 300m by 300m by 300m) and compare it to one small nuclear warhead, and you realise the awesome power of nuclear weapons.

How many nuclear weapons are there?

There are more than 40,000, distributed as follows:

USA: 12,070
Russia: 28,240
UK: 400
France: 510
UK: 400
China: 425
India: 70
Pakistan: 15
This many warheads could destroy the world many times over.
What would an impact be like?

The missile would be denoted above the ground, to maximise devastation. The first effect would be the heat, which would travel out form the bomb at the speed of light, burning everything for miles in 10,000�C flames. The air itself would seem to catch fire. Gas mains would explode; anyone seeing the blast from virtually any distance would be blinded. Then, seconds later, the shockwave would follow. This would smash through anything in its path, felling skyscrapers and blasting cars hundreds of feet into the air. It would be like a hurricane, just many times more powerful than anything natural. It would sweep through a city, destroying any structure within 15 kilometres of the blast. The shockwave would be so powerful that the air would not be able to absorb it all, so instead some energy would create an elector magnetic pulse that would destroy electrical circuit a huge distance from Ground Zero, potentially even knocking out satellites.

Why have atomic bombs?

The race to harness the power of the atom started in the World War 2. German and Allied scientists were desperate to develop the bomb, knowing that if the other side developed one first the war would be over. Fortunately, the German scientists abandoned the project near the end of the war, believing it to be impossible. The first atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, killing hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians.

Things changed when Russia developed the bomb in 1949. Now Cold War enemies, Russia and America were locked in an arms race, both frantically producing thousands of warheads. However, it was only America that pursued the policy of MAD – mutually assured destruction. This effectively meant – and still does mean – allowing every American citizen to be held hostage by Russia. It means our only defence to a nuclear attack is one of our own, which does not save the lives of any of the hundreds of millions of people that would die in the strike.

Russia never pursued this policy – it has always tried to protect its population. All its citizens are trained in how to survive nuclear attacks., Cities have large bomb shelters, unlike in America. There are comprehensive evacuation plans. Food is stored in reserve for the aftermath of an attack. Russia is much better equipped to survive a nuclear war than America. Russia spends around 50 times more than America per person per year on preparing for a nuclear attack.

How do they work?

Nuclear bombs are based on the forces that hold atoms together. When these are broken, energy is released. Also released are parts of the atom called neutrons. These then collide with other atoms, destroying these and releasing more energy and neutrons. This is a chain reaction, which releases a vast amount of energy. This is a simple atom bomb.

Their power can be increased by adding hydrogen, in hydrogen bombs. When hydrogen is compressed by a vast amount, for example with the sort of energy created by an atom bomb, the atoms fuse together, creating a helium atom – and a lot more energy. The pressure required is greater than that in the centre of the sun.

Who is known to have access to these weapons?

Seven countries declare that they have nuclear weapons – the USA, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, China, India and Pakistan. Israel is also known to have nuclear weapons but has never admitted it. South Africa is the only other country to have developed nuclear weapons but subsequently destroyed them. So we are left with eight nations.

Which of these threatens the US?

In order to pose a threat to the US, these countries need to get the warheads into range. For this, one of four things are needed:

1. Inter Continental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs). These have ranges of thousands of kilometres, allowing countries to destroy each other from great range.

2. Submarine Launched Ballistic Missiles (SLBMs). The submarine can be move close enough to a rival to destroy it with even short range missiles.

3. Nearby missile bases. America has missile bases in Europe and, until fairly recently, Turkey. The USSR attempted to place missiles on Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

4. Portable nuclear weapons, for example ‘Suitcase Bombs’. These are small nuclear weapons that can be delivered by hand into an enemy’s city, and then detonated. Another example would be placing nuclear bombs in trucks and driving into a city.

Of our seven other nuclear countries (excluding the US), Britain and France are NATO allies. India, Pakistan and Israel lack either a reason or the capability to hit the USA. This leaves China and Russia. They have both the ability and, potentially, the motive to attack America.

A Chinese missile strike would be devastating. Hundreds of cities would be destroyed, including every major one. But a Russian strike would be far worse. Virtually the entire population of America outside a nuclear bunker would be destroyed. Russia could scorch the entire surface of America many times over.

Which other states have nuclear weapons programs?

Prior to the Gulf War, Iraq had an advanced nuclear program. It had a state-of-the-art facility at Al Atheer, near Baghdad. This facility was destroyed by UN weapons inspectors in 1992. A plant was being built at Tarmiya that would allow Iraq to produce enough enriched uranium to construct a nuclear weapon every two years. Their research was helped by former Soviet scientists. Before Iraq’s defeat in the Gulf war, nobody knew of this research, showing how nuclear monitoring is insufficient.

A CIA report to Congress revealed that Iran is the most aggressive pursuer of nuclear weapons. In 1996 Iran attempted to acquire the required equipment from South Africa. In 1998 the Jerusalem Post reported that Iran had stolen two nuclear weapons from Kazakhstan. A US intelligence report said it was 98% sure that Iran had the necessary components for 2 or 3 nuclear weapons. Iran also ahs the necessary missiles to hit much of Europe.

North Korea is also believed to have a nuclear program. It has a nuclear reactor at Yogbyon, which uses MAGNOX technology, excellent for producing weapons grade plutonium. Several more reactors are planned, which would give a total output of weapons grade plutonium of 230kg per year – enough for 40 nuclear weapons.

How difficult would it be for terrorists to construct nuclear weapons?

Many terrorists, like Al Qaeda, are extremely well financed, and fanatical enough to commit an atrocity on this scale. They may also be able to pay former Soviet nuclear scientists, some of whom have helped other countries with nuclear research. The design would not be difficult – in an experiment three physics students were able to design a nuclear weapon using only freely available information. Well-researched terrorist could construct a bomb with little difficulty if they acquired sufficient plutonium. This is not impossible – nuclear reactors produce such fuel and many of these are in countries, such as North Korea that may be willing to sell. Al Qaeda has already tried to purchase plutonium in Sudan.

Could terrorists have nuclear weapons?

Nobody knows, but it is possible. The collapse of the USSR has led to the possibility of many nuclear weapons falling into the wrong hands. Many terrorists would dream of creating such a weapon, but it would be cheaper to get ready made devices from the former USSR. The greatest risk from these could be ‘suitcase bombs’ – nuclear weapons the size of suitcases, which a terrorist could simply walk into a city with.

Why are suitcase bombs such a great risk?

Russia created around 250 suitcase bombs – nuclear weapons the size of suitcases. According to a Soviet defector called Aleksander Lebed it has lost track of more than 100 – each of which could kill more than 100,000 people. Many of these bombs were distributed and hidden in hostile countries. Possibly the worst effect of a terrorist nuclear device would be that it could trigger a nuclear war. If America thought Russia had used nuclear weapons against it, it would not hesitate to retaliate; so one small nuclear device could kill billions.

The Christian Church and Women

Wake up time

This group is for Atheists, Agnostics, Secularists, Rationalists and Freethinkers who want to do more than simply listen to a guest speaker each month. I get criticised for suggesting that atheists ought to be DOING something other that just attending lectures.

But I doubt if I’m the only person who wishes the main group would wake the f**k up. It needs to develop a spine. 1,900 intelligent atheists expected to sit patiently and obediently is not natural. It’s a disgrace. It’s an insult to serious atheists like Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, Bertrand Russell, Madalyn Murray O’Hair, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Those fighters plus many more had or still have the courage to stand up and be counted.

Here in Australia it doesn’t take much courage. Chances are no one’s going to behead us for suggesting that Jesus wasn’t all he’s cracked up to be. Chances are we’ll retain our membership to the local bowls club.

So why are we so servile?

Show me the great Sydney atheist web site. Or the great Sydney atheist blog. Or letters to the editors of Australian newspapers. Point me to the great Sydney atheist book. When will I hear an atheist on talk back radio? Or on ABC’s ‘The Drum’? I’m preparing a YouTube reply to Greg Sheridan re his book of Christian lies and deceit. I doubt if it has occurred to anyone else. Why am I the only one?

I suspect I’ll be dead before the main atheist group springs to life. There was more ooomph in the graveyard of mouldy saints when they clambered from their graves and strolled into Jerusalem – Matthew 27: 52-53

But I haven’t given up. I believe – given half a chance and a hint of encouragement – Sydney atheists could become dynamic movers and shakers. Between us, we could make a MASSIVE difference.

Religion achieved greatness by proselytising – eager beavers out there among the people, announcing the coming of the Lord, and guff like that. Had they sat on their bums doing nothing, there would be no Judaism, Christianity or Islam.

Atheists complain that the Church has too much influence. The fact is that it worked hard for its influence. It went to war for its influence. It chopped off heads and roasted heretics for its influence. Atheists expect influence to be handed to them on a plate. It doesn’t work like that.

If we want to be respected as atheists, if we want a voice in public affairs, we must WAKE UP! Join the Sydney Atheist Action group. The time is NOW. And time’s a wasting…

Ancient Absurdities

Mankind has always been a slave to superstitious ideas and fears.
The ancients committed their ideas and fears to parchment and they have been passed down to us through the ages. As records of primitive man’s thoughts and traditions go, these so-called “holy books” are an important resource, but to suggest that they are still relevant today is absurd. For us to still be worshipping the same ghastly deities that were fabricated by wizards and witch doctors two to three thousand years ago, is ridiculous.

God gets a wriggle on

After thirteen billion years sitting on his arse in heaven, God was getting bored. He decided to make a planet. Yep, it would be a nice one, with trees, flowers and soft cuddly animals. But one thing at a time. First he had to form the actual spherical mass. Splooop, there ya go, a great big mass of mud and stone.

 Bit ugly though. It could do with a few oceans, so splooop, God created seven seas. Still something missing though. Ah yes, the new planet needed vegetation. Splooop – trees, ferns, brambles, gorse, stinging nettles, cacti and daffodils. Looking good.

Bit on the dark side though. So far no sun. So around about the fourth day, God manufactured a sun. Splooop. And a moon. Yep, now he could calculate the days and the nights. The first three days, without a sun, had been a bit of a guesstimate.

 Fortunately for God, the trees and flowers and other vegetation had flourished without sunlight. Put it down to good luck. Now came the tricky bit. Bees, birds, crocodiles and gorillas. This required a huge effort and it left God with a hernia.

Now for the real biggie – man and woman. But not to worry, despite the hernia, God was up to the challenge. Splooop – man and woman manufactured out of mud. Simultaneously.  Unfortunately, Lilleth, the original first lady, tripped over a log, fell down a tar pit and disappeared. She was written out of history.

Mud man survived though. He was called Adam. And he was horny as… God invited Adam to choose a “help mate” from amongst the horny gorillas and lusty orang utans but none appealed to Adam.

Perplexed, God came up with a new plan. While Adam slept he sliced open his chest and snapped off a rib. It must have been a deep sleep because Adam didn’t feel a thing.

The next morning – Hey Presto – (or was it splooop?) – Adam was introduced to Eve. She was a buxom lass with child bearing hips and Adam was instantly attracted.
